I honestly expected roller mops in robot vacuums to stay exclusive to the flagship models for a couple of years at least. But here we are, barely a year since Ecovacs launched the Deebot X8 Omni, with the tech launching in the new mid-range T90 Pro Omni.

The Deebot T90 PRO OMNI is designed to be a pet-friendly workhorse for the modern Australian home. It focuses on high-efficiency cleaning without the constant need for manual intervention.

The mopping is all built around Ecovacs's OZMO ROLLER 3.0 technology. This system uses a 27 cm roller, which is more than 50% longer than previous iterations of the roller mop, to scrub floors at 200 RPM while continuously washing itself with fresh water.

This continuous self-washing gives a vastly superior mop over the previous vibrating mop pads or oscillating pads in robot vacuums. It ensures the robot isn't just dragging a dirty cloth across your floorboards.

By bringing a roller mop to its mid-range lineup, Ecovacs is offering a loud challenge to other robot vacuum brands.

It's not just the mop that gets the upgrade, though. The T90's suction power has also seen a massive bump to 30,000Pa. This is paired with "BLAST" technology to ensure it can pull deep-seated pet hair and debris out of thick carpets.

To keep the unit moving in larger homes, ECOVACS has included PowerBoost fast charging, first seen in the X11 launched at IFA last year. The system can restore 10% of its battery in just three minutes, effectively giving it a "perpetual runtime" for houses up to 500 square metres.

Manoeuvrability has also been prioritised with a new four-wheel-drive climbing system. It can now scale single steps up to 2.4cm or consecutive thresholds up to 4cm, meaning it is less likely to get stranded in a sunken lounge room.

"The DEEBOT T90 PRO OMNI builds on our leadership as the innovator and pioneer of roller mopping technology in home robotics, combining intelligent automation with deeper cleaning performance," said Karen Powell, Regional Director of Australia and New Zealand at ECOVACS.

For those with a tighter budget, the DEEBOT T80S OMNI will join the lineup in April. While it features the slightly older OZMO ROLLER 2.0 tech, it still offers 16 times the mopping pressure of basic dual-plate systems.

The T80S doesn't skimp on the essentials, retaining the TruEdge 3.0 edge cleaning and an OMNI station that handles hot water mop washing and hot air drying.
