Finding the perfect pair of true wireless earbuds is already hard enough. While Apple's AirPods helped make the category mainstream, there are a lot of different options out there.
Edifier has made the choice even more difficult now with the launch of three new pairs of wireless earbuds.
The company has just announced the NeoBuds Planar, NeoDots, and NeoBuds Pro 3, each targeting different users with varying features and price points.
NeoBuds Planar: Premium planar magnetic tech
The flagship of the trio is the NeoBuds Planar, which uses 12 mm planar magnetic drivers for ultra-precise sound across a wide frequency range.
The earbuds feature Edifier's 2nd generation EqualMass patented wiring technology, which counterbalances the uneven distribution of magnetic fields across the diaphragm. This means all parts of the diaphragm have the same momentum, achieving what Edifier describes as "piston-like motion across the audio spectrum."
The NeoBuds Planar carry Hi-Res Wireless certification, guaranteeing lossless high-resolution audio transmission. They support Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sound and multiple HD Bluetooth codecs including LDAC and LHDC 5.0.
Advanced 3rd generation Qualcomm Hybrid Adaptive Noise Cancellation technology provides the noise-blocking credentials, while three AI-powered microphones in each earbud handle calls even in noisy environments.
Battery life hits 30 hours with the included charging case, and IP55 dust and water resistance means they can handle Australian weather. The case supports both USB-C and wireless charging.
NeoDots: Compact with hybrid drivers
The NeoDots take a more compact approach while still offering impressive audio quality. These earbuds combine balanced armature and 10 mm dynamic drivers with digital signal processing and active crossover technology.
Like their more expensive siblings, the NeoDots support multiple HD Bluetooth codecs, including LDAC and LHDC 5.0. There's also a built-in game mode providing 80 ms low latency, which should be handy for mobile gaming.
The noise cancellation extends to -48dB depth, which is pretty impressive for earbuds at this price point.
Battery life is impressive: up to 17 hours of playtime on a single charge, extending to 56 hours with the charging case.
NeoBuds Pro 3: Spatial audio with head tracking
Sitting in the middle of the range, the NeoBuds Pro 3 add some interesting features to the mix. The standout is immersive spatial audio with real-time head tracking, powered by a built-in gyroscope and accelerometer.
The earbuds use wide-band multi-channel Active Noise Cancellation that extends to -50dB depth and 4kHz bandwidth. Four AI-powered microphones in each earbud handle calls, with optimisation for wind noise resistance up to 25km/h.
Battery life reaches 36 hours with the included charging case.
Pricing and availability
All three models are available now from Officeworks. The Edifier NeoDots are priced at $189, the NeoBuds Pro 3 at $269, and the NeoBuds Planar at $299.
