It's been a hot minute since I tested a Reno phone. My last review was the Reno13, which came about six months after I reviewed the Reno12. Both models had a stylish design, great battery life with fast charging and way too much pre-loaded bloatware.
The Reno15 Pro 5G is the flagship of this duo, and it features a massive 200MP ultra-clear main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera. That second lens has a 100-degree field of view, which basically means you can finally bin the selfie stick for group shots.
Under the hood, the Pro is running a MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset. It is also surprisingly compact, sporting a 6.32-inch display and an aerospace-grade aluminium frame.
Alongside the Pro is the Reno15 F 5G, which is the more affordable sibling. It swaps the MediaTek chip for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and offers a larger 6.57-inch 120Hz display for those who prefer more screen real estate.
Power for days
The most impressive aspect of both phones is the battery life. Oppo has managed to cram a 6,200mAh battery into the Reno15 Pro and an even larger 6,500mAh unit into the Reno15 F. Given how power-efficient these mid-range chips usually are, these phones should easily survive a heavy day of filming and editing.
When you do eventually run dry, both models support 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. Better yet, Oppo is still including the 80W wall charger in the box, along with a protective case.
Built for the feed
Oppo is clearly pitching these at the TikTok and Reels crowd. Theyβve introduced a "Seamless Camera Switch" feature that lets you jump between the front and rear cameras while recording, which will help those one-take vlogs.
There is also a new Video Editing 2.0 suite built directly into the Photos app to help speed up the posting process.
Both phones also come with an IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. This is quite high for this price bracket, meaning it should handle more than just a light splash of rain.
