Samsung is delivering the old one-two punch of gigantic 115-inch TVs this month. Just days after I got the chance to review the 115-inch QN90F Neo QLED TV, Samsung has confirmed the price and availability of its 115-inch Micro RGB R95 TV.

The Micro RGB model, which was officially confirmed for Australia back at IFA, uses a newer backlighting technology to deliver incredibly vibrant and accurate colour.

At $42,999, it's considerably more expensive than the $26,999 Neo QLED model. But Samsung reckons the Micro RGB technology is worth the extra $16,000.

What makes Micro RGB different?

The key innovation here is in the backlighting. Samsung's using individually controlled red, green, and blue micro LEDs that are each less than 100 micrometres in size. That's roughly half the size of a Mini LED.

By arranging these microscopic LEDs in an ultra-fine pattern behind the panel, the 115-inch R95 4K is the first ultra-large TV that supports 81-bit processing (that's 27 bits per colour channel).

This helped the TV achieve VDE certification for Micro RGB Precision Colour, which Samsung says delivers picture quality that's almost indistinguishable from reality.

All the AI bells and whistles

The R95 comes with Samsung's Micro RGB AI Engine, which optimises both picture and sound in real time. It supports the full suite of Samsung Vision AI capabilities and includes R/G/B colour LED local dimming.

Samsung's also included their Glare-Free technology, which UL Solutions have independently verified. I was really impressed by this on the S95F OLED, and given how many Australian living rooms are basically glass boxes full of natural light, having certified anti-glare tech on a 115-inch screen is pretty essential.

Surprisingly slim for such a beast

Despite its enormous 115-inch screen, the R95 is surprisingly thin at just 35.7mm and weighs 90.5kg. Samsung reckons this makes it their thinnest and lightest 115-inch+ RGB TV available in Australia.

Beyond the fancy display technology, you're getting all the standard Samsung TV features: Samsung Art Store for turning your TV into a 115-inch gallery (with Pantone-validated colours), Samsung TV Plus for free streaming, Gaming Hub for console-free gaming, SmartThings for smart home control, and Samsung Knox security.

There's also a generous 7-year Tizen OS upgrade programme, which means your $43K investment won't become obsolete for at least seven years.

Pricing and availability

The Samsung 115-inch Micro RGB R95 will be available from 10 December 2025 through Samsung's website and leading retailers nationwide for $42,999.

Yes, that's enough money for a decent car. But the reality is that if you're weighing up whether you can afford it, then this TV probably isn't for you anyway. It's a statement piece designed for the wealthy to show off in their immaculate mansions.

Still, the fact that it launches the day before my birthday can't be a coincidence, can it?
