Samsung's New Galaxy A Series: AI for Everyone, But Is It Awesome?

Samsung has just announced its 2025 A-series lineup, promising "AI for everyone" with the introduction of "Awesome Intelligence".

With the A56, A36 and A26 hitting shelves on 27 March, let's dig into the announcement to see what Samsung is really offering, and whether it lives up to the hype.

AI buzzwords abound

Samsung is continuing to push AI hard with the new A-Series. But it's not "Galaxy AI" here – instead, Samsung has dubbed it "Awesome Intelligence".

The A-Series AI is powered by One UI 7, brings some of the top AI features from this year's Galaxy S25 devices to the more affordable models.

For example, the enhanced Circle to Search now recognises phone numbers and websites, making it easier to move from what's on screen to action.

Camera Upgrades: More Megapixels, More AI

The camera systems across the new A series have seen upgrades, with a 50MP main lens on all models.

The A56 5G and A36 5G boast 10-bit HDR front lens recording, promising crisp selfies, while the A56 5G also gets a 12MP ultra-wide lens.

Samsung is leaning heavily on AI-powered editing tools. "Best Face", available on the A56 5G, lets you combine the best expressions from a motion photo so you don't have to worry about someone blinking during a photo again.

The "Object Eraser" and "Filters" features also get AI enhancements, promising cleaner edits and personalised styles.

Durability and Longevity: A Step in the Right Direction

Samsung is emphasising the longevity of the new A series, promising six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, and six years of security updates. This is incredible value for a mid-range smartphone.

The displays have also seen upgrades, with the A56 5G and A36 5G featuring 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED displays with 1200 nits brightness.

The entire lineup boasts a 5,000mAh battery, and the A56 5G and A36 5G support 45W fast charging, though you'll need to spring for a charger capable of delivering that speed..

Durability has also been addressed, with all three models sporting an IP67 dust and water resistance rating and Gorilla Glass Victus+ both front and back.

The new Galaxy A series will be available in Australia from March 27, 2025, with the following RRPs:

  • Galaxy A56 5G: From $699
  • Galaxy A36 5G: From $549
