Ecovacs launches the Deebot Omni X8 for cleaner floors
Ecovacs has hit the ground running in 2025 with its new Deebot Omni X8 robot vacuum, with an advanced roller mop inside, as well as cheaper T50 models.

I rarely use the mop function of robot vacuums, apart from testing for reviews. Mostly because I just haven’t found they do a good job of actually mopping up messes instead of more smearing dirt further along the floor.
But the Deebot Omni X8? This looks like a robot vacuum that can actually mop. Ecovacs has used the mopping technology created by sibling-brand Tineco in the Omni X8. That means the vacuum continually sprays clean water onto one side of the roller, before scraping that dirty water off into a separate dirty water tank.
It does this while spinning at 200 RPM, and exerting a constant 4,000 Pa of downward pressure to really scrub your floors clean. I’m testing the X8 now, and I think it’s the first time I will have the mopping set as the default clean. And a big part of that is due to the improvements to the software as well.

For the first time, Ecovacs lets you clean carpets first, so it will vacuum all the carpets in your home before it wets the mop, so there’s no chance of a wet mop pad accidentally scraping along your carpet. Well, so long as the mapping does its job of identifying carpeted rooms vs hard floors (which, spoiler, it didn’t).
When it does come time to mop, the OZMO ROLLER can protrude out of the right side of the vacuum to mop right to the edges of the floor.
The focus on mopping hasn’t impacted the ability to vacuum, though. The X8 has up to 18,000 Pa of suction power, which is a massive boost from the 12,800 of the X5 Pro Omni.
There’s also been a boost to the Zero Tangle technology, which promises a more effective reduction in hair pickup on the robot’s brush. I found the Zero Tangle tech in the X5 underwhelmed a bit, but am hopeful that the 2.0 version does a better job clearing out longer hair.
The navigation and mapping also got an upgrade this generation, while the base station got a redesign as well. I’m not sure that I love the water tanks being visible on the outside, but at least it makes it easier to know when to change the water.
I do appreciate the addition of a cleaning liquid tank though, which will automatically dilute cleaning liquid into the X8 before it cleans, helping remove stubborn stains while leaving you home smelling fresher than when you clean with just water.
Sadly, Ecovacs hasn’t packed any of the cleaning liquid in the box, so you need to spring for it as an additional cost. And at $75 for 2 Litres, it ain’t cheap.
“The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is another reminder that we really listen to consumers and innovate around their needs and wants, and today we celebrate taking the mopping prowess in home robotics to a level never seen before. We've engineered the revolutionary OZMO ROLLER Instant Self-Washing Mopping Technology for spotless cleaning, even along edges, to deliver impeccable cleaning on a roll.”

Updated T series models as well
The new roller mop in the X8 is all well and good if your home is mostly hard floors that require mopping, but if you run carpets everywhere, it’s probably not the ideal solution.
So Ecovacs has also launched two updates to its T-series of robot vacuums as well: The T50 Max Pro Omni and the T50 Pro Omni.
The T50 Max Pro Omni has had a reworked design to improve both suction power and airflow, boosting suction up to 18,500 Pa while reducing noise.
It also boasts features like Zero Tangle 2.0 technology, TruEdge adaptive edge cleaning, OZMO Turbo 2.0 mops with 18 mm auto-lifting mop pads and AIVI 3D 3.0 for mapping and object recognition.
It comes with its Omni station that auto-washes the mop at up to 75ºC, and dries it at 63ºC with hot air.
The cheaper T50 Pro Omni, meanwhile, measures in at just 81 mm high, allowing it to slip under all kinds of furniture.
Its suction will hit 15,000 Pa, and it has a long list of features like Zero Tangle 2.0, TruEdge adaptive edge cleaning and a compact, powerful base station that washes the mop pads.
