Have you ever tried to wash your doona? It's a nightmare that Electrolux hopes to have solved
The new Electrolux UltimateCare 900 Front loading washer and dryer has a dedicated mode for washing your duvet.

Most washing machines can't actually wash your doona. Sure, they might be big enough for you to get it into the machine, but as soon as you add water and detergent, it gets way too heavy to actually clean.
Electrolux's new washer/dryer combo looks to have solved that with a special duvet cleaning mode that uses heated vapour to clean your doona. Because it uses a lot less water, it can both remove odours like sweat and reduce dust mites in one simple 60 minute program.
And let's not forget this is also a "dryer", so you can place the doona straight back on your bed once it has been cleaned.
It seems like a useful, and somewhat unique, feature to introduce in the washer/dryer space. You will need a 12kg machine or larger if you want to clean a king-sized doona, but smaller sizes should fit in all models.
Alongside the DuvetCare feature, the Electrolux washer also offers a Sanitise mode, which washes and steams over 60ºC to kill bacteria and viruses, and a SensorWash sensor that can help to remove "up to 53 different stains" without pre-treatment.
Those stains can include things like "oil, ketchup, fruit puree and pizza", according to Electrolux, and it works by adjusting the cleaning cycle's duration according to detected stains.
There are a few additional features worth flagging, like an intelligent detergent dose system that delivers the right amount of detergent for the size of your load.
There's also Ultramix, which ensures your detergent is fully dissolved do you don't end up with visible residue on your clothes.
But the key seller here is the ability to wash your filthy, filthy doonas.
Pricing and availability
The Electrolux 12kg UltimateCare 900 Front Load Washing Machine and Dryer is available now at retailers like Appliances Online and Bing Lee. It has an RRP of $2,473.90.
I don't get to review too many washing machines thanks to the logistics, but I'm keen to see how well this doona wash performs.
