LG Brings OLED intelligence to LCD with new Micro RGB evo TVs

LG has dominated the OLED TV market for a decade now, with exceptional TVs like the G5 OLED evo. But the Korean company isn't going to sit back as Samsung pushes hard into the Micro RGB space. At CES this year, LG announced its own Micro RGB TV solution.

The LG Micro RGB evo is LG's first flagship RGB TV, and rather than starting from scratch, LG is leveraging 13 years of OLED expertise to control the tiny RGB LED backlights with OLED-level precision.

The TVs run LG's new Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3, which features a Dual AI Engine. This allows the TV to simultaneously process two types of AI upscaling, which aim to deliver sharper images that still look natural and balanced.

Colour coverage that ticks all the boxes

The key benefit of this technology is the colour reproduction. LG has earned Intertek certification for 100% colour gamut coverage across three major standards: BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB. That's the trifecta of colour spaces, covering everything from HDR cinema to digital editing workflows.

The Micro Dimming Ultra technology manages over a thousand dimming zones, which LG says delivers the best contrast performance it has achieved in an LCD TV. It's designed to give precise control over brightness and colour, revealing detail in both the darkest shadows and brightest highlights.

Smart features get smarter

Beyond the picture quality, LG's packed the Micro RGB evo with AI features through its webOS platform. You'll get both Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini integration, along with Voice ID, AI Picture/Sound Wizard, and a personalised "My Page" home screen.

The AI Concierge, AI Chatbot, and AI Search have all been upgraded to help you find and explore content more easily.

"Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display, and with the LG Micro RGB evo, we have achieved a milestone previously thought impossible for this category," said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.

The LG Micro RGB evo (model MRGB95) will be available in three sizes: 100-inch, 86-inch, and 75-inch. No word yet on Australian pricing or availability, but we'll be keeping an eye out for more details as we get closer to launch.
