LG's new flagship wallpaper OLED, announced at CES this week, completely defies expectations for what you think should be possible for a television set.
Measuring in at just 9mm thin, the LG OLED evo W6 combines a lot of the tech evolutions LG has made in OLED panels in the past few years into a single product.
The original Wallpaper TV debuted back in 2017, but this new iteration brings LG's True Wireless technology into the mix. That means all your HDMI inputs, power, and everything else lives in a separate Zero Connect Box that can sit up to 10 metres away from the screen itself. As long as there's line of sight between the box and the TV, you're good to go.
LG has also introduced what it's calling Hyper Radiant Colour Technology across its 2026 OLED lineup. The W6 gets Brightness Booster Ultra, which LG claims makes it 3.9 times brighter than conventional OLEDs.
To complement that brightness boost, LG has engineered a screen with the lowest reflectance of any of its TVs. The OLED evo G5 was pretty good, but couldn't compete with Samsung's S95F OLED for its ability to handle reflective light.
The new screen has earned an industry-first "Reflection Free Premium" certification from Intertek, which should mean you can actually see what's on screen even when the sun's streaming through the windows.
Under the hood, there's a new Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 with a Neural Processing Unit that's 5.6 times more powerful than last year's OLED evo models. LG says this enables a Dual AI Engine that can reduce noise and preserve natural texture simultaneously, rather than sacrificing one for the other like traditional processors tend to do.
For gamers, the W6 supports 4K at 165Hz, with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium certification. You're also getting a 0.1ms pixel response time and Auto Low Latency Mode, which is pretty much what you'd expect from a flagship gaming TV in 2026.
LG has also expanded its webOS platform with Voice ID, which recognises who's speaking and switches to their personalised home screen. The TV now integrates Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, and there's a new "In This Scene" feature that lets you ask about cast members or generate AI images related to what you're watching.
All of this is protected by LG Shield, which won a CES 2026 Innovation Award for its encryption and security measures.
Pricing and Australian availability haven't been announced yet, but it's safe to say this will be a premium screen. Expect more details later in the year.
