It's been a couple of years now since I reviewed the Moto G54 5G, and in that time, Motorola has made some pretty substantial upgrades to the mid-level budget device.

This latest model to hit shelves is the G57, which is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor and offers a 120Hz display and a Sony LYTIA 600 camera system.

For $299, you're getting a device that's surprisingly well-specced. The 50MP main camera uses Sony's LYTIA 600 sensor with Quad Pixel technology, which captures more light for better low-light shots. There's also an 8MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Motorola has integrated its AI here with the camera, claiming it will handle intelligent image processing to deliver professional-quality results. You'll also get access to Google Photos' editing tools, including features like Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur.

The 6.72-inch FHD+ display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and gaming feel smoother. It can also boost brightness up to 1050 nits in High Brightness Mode, so you should be able to see the screen clearly outdoors.

The phone also offers a tech called Water Touch 2.0, which keeps the touchscreen responsive even when they're a bit wet, which can be handy if you're using it poolside or in the kitchen.

The G57 is certified to MIL-STD-810H standards and features Gorilla Glass 7i, which offers up to three times better drop and scratch resistance than previous generations. It's also got an IP64 rating for water and dust resistance.

Inside, you'll find up to 12GB of RAM (with RAM Boost) and 128GB of storage, running Android 16 out of the box.

The 5200mAh battery is rated for up to 47 hours of use, and when you do need to charge, 30W TurboPower charging gets you to 90% in under an hour.

Pricing and availability

The moto g57 is available now in three Pantone-curated colours: Corsair, Fluidity, and Regatta.

You'll find it at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Big W, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, MobileCiti, and Amazon for $299.
