I cannot open social media without seeing videos of delicious looking ice cream created in the viral Ninja CREAMi ice cream maker. And I'm actually okay with that, because I love ice cream.

But I expect soon I'll be watching lots of videos of epic frozen drinks being created, as Ninja has today launched its SLUSHi appliance into Australia.

Ninja says that there are over 50,000 people on the waitlist for the SLUSHi in Australia and New Zealand. Let me say that number again: 50,000!

Interview: How Ninja created a viral hit with the SLUSHI | BTTR
With the Ninja SLUSHi launching in Australia, BTTR spoke with Ninja’s Product Marketing Manager to understand how 50,000 people signed up for the appliance’s waitlist.

The SLUSHi launched internationally back in July 2024, but has repeatedly sold out since it first launched. Watching through some of the TikTok videos, it's not hard to see why – there's something exceptionally satisfying about watching liquids turn into SLUSHi.

The appliance itself is designed around an innovative RapidChill technology, that spins an auger around a cooling cylinder to freeze liquid evenly for smooth results. The big benefit of this approach is that you don't need to add any ice, which means you're not watering down your drink.

It takes up to an hour to turn your liquid into a frozen drink at maximum capacity. Once it's made, the SLUSHi will keep your drink frozen for up to 12 hours, making it a great option for hot summer days and parties.

There are five preset options for freezing your beverages: Slush, Spiked Slush, Frappé, Milkshake and Frozen Juice. There are also temperature and texture controls so you can customise it just to how you like it.

The self-serve handle promises a no-mess pour, while the whole vessel is easily removed for cleaning.

Pricing and availability

The Ninja SLUSHi is available in Australia now, with an RRP of $499.99. But expect it to sell out pretty quickly.
