When it comes to home security, clarity of picture matters more than you think. There's little good in capturing footage of someone trying to break in, only to see a pixelated mess when you try and identify the culprit.
Ring has just launched its latest range of battery-powered video doorbells, and for the first time, it has brought 4K resolution to a battery doorbell.
The hero of the five new models is the Battery Video Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen). It delivers 4K video resolution and a 10x zoom, so you can actually read the label on a dropped package or recognise a face from the end of your driveway.
Ring has also overhauled the internal battery to charge faster and handle the heavy processing required for high-resolution video. This gives you top-tier security without the headache of organising an electrician to rewire your front porch.
If you prefer a hardwired connection, the Wired Video Doorbell Elite (2nd Gen) offers the same 4K resolution but runs on Power over Ethernet. That means it uses a single cable for both continuous power and a rock-solid internet connection, making Wi-Fi dropouts a thing of the past.
Mark Fletcher, APAC Managing Director for Ring, said the new lineup is all about giving Australians more choice.
"With a more versatile lineup spanning 4K video, battery, wired and solar-powered options, we’re enabling customers to tailor their setup to suit their home and lifestyle," Fletcher said.
For those who don't need 4K, Ring has also introduced three 2K resolution models. The Battery Video Doorbell Plus features a quick-release battery, while the entry-level Battery and Wired options offer a major visual upgrade for a fraction of the cost.
Given the harsh Australian sun, Ring is also launching two new solar accessories. The Solar Charger and Solar Panel allow you to mount your battery doorbell and keep it continuously topped up, minimising the annoying chore of pulling the battery out to charge it inside.
