Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S25 series of smartphones today, and while there's really not too much to get excited about, there are a number of pre-order offers to consider.
As usual with flagship smartphone launches, there are outright phone offers and there are mobile plan offers. Let's break them down:
Outright S25 pre-order offers
If you want the best value deal, you're going to want to buy your phone outright. While the mobile plan offerings may save a bit more on the value of the phone, you'll end up paying a lot more on the plan itself over 24/36 months than if you're on a prepaid or month-to-month SIM-only plan.
For outright offers, you basically have two options.
The first is to buy directly from Samsung's online store. You get the option of exclusive colour-ways, which is nice, but if you pre-order you'll:
- Save $200 towards a storage upgrade
- Receive up to 30% off RRP on selected Galaxy ecosystem products
That $200 towards a storage option basically means that for the S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, you'll get the 512GB version for the price of the 256GB version. If you wanted the 1TB S25 Ultra, it would instead cost you $2,549.
The second option for outright ownership is mostly the same as buying from Samsung. If you buy from a retailer like JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks or Amazon, you'll get the same $200 off towards a storage update. You just don't get the 30% discount on Galaxy ecosystem products.
Mobile Plan S25 pre-order offers
All three of the major telcos have S25 series pre-order offers available.
Telstra
- Buy a Galaxy S25 Series device and:
- Save up to $400 when you purchase on a payment plan
- Receive $20 off each month for 12 months (savings of $240) (For new customers connecting on a new Premium Mobile Plan)
Optus
- Buy a Galaxy S25 Series device on an eligible plan and:
- Save $400 off the RRP on a 24/36 month plan
- Receive 36 months free Upgrade and Protect valued at $540
- Up to $940 total value
Vodafone
- Buy a Galaxy S25 Series device and:
- Save up to $400 towards a storage upgrade
- Receive up to $500 bonus trade-in on an eligible device
Should you pre-order?
If you already know you want the Galaxy S25, it's much better value to pre-order and save a couple of hundred bucks on the RRP.
All pre-orders are available now, right up until the phone goes on sale on 14 February.
If you're on the fence, I would wait. From my early hands on time with the phone, I wasn't blown away by what's on offer.
While I'd want a lot more hands on time to make a definitive recommendation, I think getting a better understanding of just how useful the AI features will actually be in your day-to-day life is worth the wait.
