In the chaos of Black Friday, a few product announcements slipped past me the past few weeks, including Samsung's announcement of the new Galaxy Tab A11+.
This large, 11-inch tablet joins the more premium Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra model I tested recently, with the advantage of being much more affordable.
Starting at just $379, the Galaxy Tab A11+ is positioned as Samsung's budget-friendly option for anyone who wants a decent-sized tablet without breaking the bank. That's significantly cheaper than the premium S-series tablets, making it an interesting option for families or anyone who doesn't need all the bells and whistles.
What you're getting for your money
The Tab A11+ comes with an 11-inch LCD display running at 90Hz, which should make scrolling and general use feel pretty smooth. It's not going to match the OLED screens on premium tablets, but at this price point, you shouldn't expect it to.
Inside, there's a MediaTek MT8775 processor with either 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, or 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. If that's not enough space, you can chuck in a microSD card and expand it up to 2TB.
Battery-wise, Samsung's packed in a 7,040mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. The company reckons this should keep you going through a full day of use, though if you want the faster charging, you'll need to buy the charger separately.
For audio, there are quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support, which is a nice touch for watching videos or playing games. The cameras are basic with an 8 MP lens on the back and a 5 MP on the front. But let's be honest, nobody's buying a tablet for its photography prowess.
The software side of things
The Tab A11+ ships with Android 16-based One UI 8 right out of the box, making it one of the first devices to launch with Android 16. Samsung's promising up to seven generations of software upgrades, which means this tablet should stay supported well into the 2030s. That's genuinely impressive for a budget device.
You're also getting Samsung DeX for a desktop-like experience, plus access to Google's Gemini AI and Circle to Search features.
There's a 5G model, which means you can take advantage of mobile data speeds when you're away from Wi-Fi, though there's also a standard Wi-Fi model if you don't need that connectivity.

For the kids
Samsung's also launching a Kids Edition exclusively on their website for $429. This bundle includes a colourful protective case, a blue stylus, and some cute Samsung character accessories, including stickers and a keyring featuring "Crocro" (who is apparently a fashion-loving crocodile).
The Kids Edition comes with Samsung Kids mode and a parental control guide, which should help parents manage what their kids can access.
At $429, it's $50 more than the standard model, but if you've got young ones who are prone to dropping expensive electronics, that protective case might be worth the extra investment.
Where to buy
The Galaxy Tab A11+ is available now at major Australian retailers including Telstra, Optus, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Officeworks, and Costco. The Kids Edition is exclusive to Samsung.com.
There are a bunch of launch offers running through December, with savings at various retailers and telcos. Officeworks is bundling JBL headphones worth $129, while JB Hi-Fi has $80 off the 128GB model, and the Kids Edition has an introductory price of $329 on Samsung's website.
I haven't had hands-on time with the Tab A11+, but at this price point, it could be a solid option for a lot of people who just want a reliable tablet without the premium price tag.
