Summer is done and Autumn is settling in, which means Black Friday is getting closer and closer. Here are all the details for Black Friday 2024.

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday is always the Friday after US Thanksgiving, which means it will always be the fourth Friday in November.

In 2024, Black Friday will be on Friday 29 November.

That said, the past few years have seen retailers launch deals earlier and earlier. In fact, you can expect to see Black Friday deals appearing from late October to Early November.

What is Black Friday?

In the US, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, marking the unofficial start of the Christmas shopping season. It was celebrated as the day retailers' accounts went from being "in the red" to be being "in the black".

However, its true origins seem to rise from Philadelphia in the 1960s. Police officers would call the Friday after Thanksgiving "Black Friday" because of the influx of tourists and the extra work it brought.

Today, it's a global shopping phenomenon, renowned for its exceptional sales and discounts. It takes place in the weeks before Christmas, making it a great time to shop for the holiday season. It's also the last big sale event before Boxing Day.
