I know next to nothing about beauty skin routines. I moisturise my face once a day, and that's about as far as I am interested to go.
But I know there are a lot of people turning to technology to help with their skincare regime, and those people will be excited by the news that Shark is bringing its CryoGlow under-eye cooling LED mask to Australia.
The device arrives on Australian shores following a massive run in the United States, where it currently sits as the top-selling facial skincare tool. It has already built a significant profile, boasting a fan base of high-profile influencers, alongside a "Best Invention" nod from TIME magazine.
While Shark is arguably better known locally for its vacuum cleaners, fans and hair stylers, this move suggests the brand is serious about becoming a major player in the high-end beauty tech space.
Apparently, the CryoGlow stands out from the sea of standard LED masks is the addition of active under-eye cooling. While the infrared LEDs supposedly target the deeper layers of the skin to boost collagen and smooth out fine lines, the cooling elements are designed to physically tighten and refresh the sensitive area under the eyes.
It essentially tries to combine a long-term clinical treatment for skin health with the immediate "wake up" effect of a cold compress.
Developed alongside dermatologists, the mask features four distinct treatment modes: Better Ageing, Skin Clearing, Under-Eye, and Skin Sustain.
Crucially for Australian consumers β and arguably the reason I'm writing this rather than archiving the press release β the device is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), providing a level of regulatory oversight that many cheaper, generic LED masks lack.
Clinical trials cited by the brand suggest that consistent users can see reduced fine lines within eight weeks, while those using the clearing mode for acne may see improvements in about a month.
Shark is clearly betting on the same local enthusiasm that saw its FlexStyle hair tool launch to a waitlist of over 12,000 people. A Shark Beauty spokesperson noted the brand's goal is to "bring salon-quality results to everyone," positioning the mask as a more accessible alternative to expensive professional clinic visits.
