The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 are an exceptional pair of headphones for runners of all persuasions. But if you happen to be a marathon runner, Shokz's new partnership may pique your interest.

Shokz has announced a limited-edition version of the OpenRun Pro 2 tied to each of the six 2026 Abbott World Marathon Majors races it's now the Official Headphone Partner of.

The co-branded headphones come in a striking deep blue and gold colourway, and each version features the corresponding marathon map printed on the box and case. It's a nice touch for serious runners looking for a memento that doubles as a practical piece of kit.

For Australians, the one to watch is the OpenRun Pro 2 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS Co-Branded Edition, which will be available ahead of race day. You'll be able to grab it via the Shokz Australia website or at the Sydney Marathon expo, where Shokz will have a presence as the official headphone partner.

Each version is race-specific and won't be sold through general retail, so if you want one, you'll need to plan ahead.

Shokz is also running a broader initiative alongside the partnership called Chasing Stars, which recruits everyday runners and offers a limited number of spots in each major race. Global ambassador Eliud Kipchoge and athletes including Hellen Obiri and Eilish McColgan are involved in the program.

The six races covered by the partnership are the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, the TCS London Marathon, the TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and the TCS New York City Marathon.

The Sydney Marathon itself has had a massive surge in interest this year. More than 123,000 runners entered the ballot for the August 30, 2026 event, a 56 per cent jump on 2025, which followed its debut as the 7th Abbott World Marathon Major last year.

If you're already a fan of the OpenRun Pro 2 (and if you've read our Shokz OpenFit Pro review), you'll know Shokz makes some seriously good open-ear sports headphones. For marathon runners, the limited edition is a compelling reason to pick up a pair tied to a race milestone.
