I don't know if there's a more demanding breed of consumers than gamers. For the people who take gaming seriously, every component in their setup needs to be of the highest quality.

TP-Link is targeting that exact audience with its latest gaming routers.

The company has launched its Archer Gaming Router range in Australia, a full lineup of Wi-Fi 7 routers purpose-built for the demands of modern gaming, priced from $279 to $1,099.

The GE550 is the one to watch

At the heart of the range is the Archer GE550 ($599), a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router with combined speeds up to 9220 Mbps. The key feature is a dedicated 5 GHz gaming band that separates game traffic from everything else on the network, so your console or PC stays prioritised while the rest of the household streams or video calls in the background.

Multi-Link Operation (MLO) lets the GE550 connect across the 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously, improving connection stability rather than just peak speed. Five wired ports (two at 5 Gbps and three at 2.5 Gbps) give plenty of bandwidth headroom for anyone running a wired gaming rig.

A dedicated game panel displays real-time network status and connected devices, while built-in game acceleration targets jitter, lag, and ping reduction across specific game apps, devices, and servers. HomeShield security is included to protect every device on the network while gaming online.

Something for every setup

The range is structured to offer a Wi-Fi 7 option at every price point. The flagship GE800 ($1,099) targets users who want maximum throughput across the whole home, while the GE230 ($279) makes Wi-Fi 7 accessible to those on a budget.

For households not yet ready to make the Wi-Fi 7 jump, the GXE75 ($249) slots in as a capable Wi-Fi 6E tri-band option that still carries the gaming-specific features.

EasyMesh compatibility means any router in the range can be extended across larger homes without losing the gaming prioritisation features. RGB lighting with customisable settings via the game panel rounds things out for the desk setup crowd.

Neville Wang, Managing Director at TP-Link Australia and New Zealand, said: "Gaming is no longer just another use case in the home, it's one of the most demanding. We've built this lineup to give every type of gamer, from the weekend player to the serious competitor, a router that actually prioritises their game."
