No matter what laptop or desktop computer you end up buying, you'll never have enough ports. So a robust, high-performance docking station is definitely worth consideration.
D-Link has just announced its new 14-in-1 Thunderbolt docking station, designed to really elevate your workspace.
The DUF-E01 uses a single Thunderbolt 4 connection to instantly give your machine 14 extra ports without needing pesky drivers. This means you can hook up multiple monitors, hard drives, and wired internet while simultaneously charging your laptop with up to 60W of power.
For professionals dealing with large files, the 40Gbps bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4 is a meaningful upgrade over standard USB. It gives you enough headroom to run high-speed external NVMe drives and capture cards without everything grinding to a halt under pressure.
It is also a serious display hub, supporting up to three independent screens at once. You can output to an 8K monitor via DisplayPort for high-resolution creative work, while the HDMI 2.1 port handles standard 4K setups with ease.
Graeme Reardon, Managing Director of D-Link Australia and New Zealand, noted that the device is built for people who need their primary computer to punch above its weight.
"One cable in, and you have 14 ports, three screens, gigabit networking and your laptop is charging," Reardon said.
Beyond displays and data, the dock includes a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet port to save you from flaky office Wi-Fi during important video calls. Content creators will also appreciate the built-in SD and microSD slots, which support cards up to 2TB for fast photo and video transfers directly to your machine.
It all sits in an aluminium alloy casing that manages heat passively, meaning there are no annoying fans whirring away on your desk. The base is also magnetic and detachable, so you can easily stand it up or lay it flat depending on how you organise your workspace.
Just keep in mind that to get the full 40Gbps speeds, multi-monitor support, and power delivery, your computer specifically needs a certified Thunderbolt 4 port, not just a standard USB-C slot.
