EcoFlow's latest power stations offer better portability than their predecessors

EcoFlow has just launched the Delta 3 Plus and River 3 Plus in Australia, delivering portable power in a more compact form factor.

When I reviewed the EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 last year, I found it was probably a bit of overkill for my particular needs. It was packed to the brim with connectivity options, battery capacity and advanced features, but it also weighed more than my 13 year old.

The launch of the new Delta 3 Plus and River 3 Plus look like a better balance on the portability side, though they do cater to different needs. Let's take a closer look at what each offers:

EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus

Weighing in at just 12.5 kg, the Delta 3 Plus is not only significantly more portable than the Delta Pro 3's 51 kg weight, but it's also better than the previous Delta 2 Plus model.

Despite the weight decrease, you still get 1024 kWH of battery capacity and 1800W output, which is enough to power a typical fridge (or the Ninja Woodfire, which is my go to test for these things).

If you need more juice, you can also expand the batteries capacity easily.

The Delta 3 offers fast charging, with 30 minutes from an AC wall socket giving the power station enough juice to keep a standard fridge running for five hours.

You get a heap of output ports, including four AC ports, two USB-A connections, two USB-C connections and a DC car connection as well, with surge output up to 3600 W.

Despite the power, the Delta 3 Plus still runs quietly, at just 30dB when outputting under 600W.

If you enjoy camping, EcoFlow's River lineup has always been a great space-friendly option. The River 3 Plus weighs just 4.7 kg, offering a 286 Wh capacity.

Because it's smaller, you don't get the same number of ports as the Delta, but somehow EcoFlow has still squeezed in three AC outputs, two USB-A ports, a USB-C port and an DC car output.

It can pump out 600W of power, surging to 1200W. Integrated fast charging sees the River 3 go from 0-100% in about an hour from an AC wall charger, though you can charge it from solar panels in about 1.5 hours as well.

The River 3 Plus is also a solid option as an Uninterruptible power supply, or UPS, with a 10ms response time. So when you aren't using it while camping, you can have it plugged into the wall and your Wi-Fi router connected to it, and if the power goes out you won't drop your internet connection.

Pricing and availability

Both the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus and the River 3 Plus are available now through EcoFlow's online store, Amazon or eBay.

The Delta 3 Plus has an RRP of $1,599, while the River 3 Plus' RRP is $499.
