A long time ago, I spent way too much time organising my wine collection on the first version of Airsource's Cellar app.
But Samsung is going to be taking care of that using Google Gemini in its new wine fridge.
The company's just announced its latest Bespoke AI Refrigerator and a new Bespoke AI Wine Cellar at CES 2026, both packing upgraded AI Vision features built with Google Gemini.
More than just counting carrots
Previously, the Family Hub's AI Vision feature could recognise up to 37 types of fresh food and 50 types of pre-registered processed food.
But with the Gemini-powered upgrade, Samsung says it'll be able to recognise a lot more items, including processed foods, without you needing to register them manually first.
Even better, Samsung says the tech will be able to detect user-labelled items β those containers of leftovers that you've scrawled "curry" on with a Sharpie. You'll be able to add those to your food list manually, which should make tracking what's actually in your fridge a whole lot easier.
The idea is that with better ingredient recognition, managing your food list becomes clearer and more useful.
More important: wine tracking
But where it gets really interesting is that Samsung's also showing off a new Bespoke AI Wine Cellar with similar Gemini-powered AI Vision tech.
When you pop a bottle in or take one out, a camera at the top of the unit recognises the label and tracks the bottles, automatically updating the SmartThings AI Wine Manager. The system can even tell you which specific shelf and compartment each bottle is in, so you don't have to play hide and seek with that nice Pinot you've been saving.
Through the AI Wine Manager, you'll be able to look up wine info and get pairing suggestions based on what's actually in your collection.
The Australian availability question
Of course, there's the usual catch for CES announcements: Samsung Australia hasn't confirmed whether either of these products will actually make it to our shores, or when.
The Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub and the Bespoke AI Wine Cellar are both on display at Samsung's booth at CES 2026 in Las Vegas this week, but beyond that?
I'm cautiously optimistic. Aussies make and drink a lot of wine, so it would make sense to launch a smart wine fridge in Australia. But until it's officially released, we'll just have to wait and see.
