It is the time for consumer technology companies to be launching their home theatre products. Samsung unveiled its OLED TVs, LG followed with its full TV lineup, and now Sony has announced the details of its home theatre audio products.

Sony’s latest push under the "Cinema is Coming Home" banner introduces a refreshed range of soundbars and a mid-tier TV designed for scale. The new audio hardware includes the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 and Bar 5, supported by optional wireless subwoofers and rear speakers.

The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 acts as a premium entry point, packing nine speakers into a single unit. It uses up-firing and side speakers to create a wider soundstage, further enhanced by Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology which creates "phantom" speakers around the room.

For those looking for a balanced setup, the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5 provides a 3.1-channel system paired with a wireless subwoofer. Both models support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, ensuring compatibility with the latest cinematic audio formats for an enveloping experience.

To complete the setup, Sony has introduced the BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9 and Sub 8. For the first time in this series, the system supports dual subwoofer playback for those who want deeper, vibration-controlled bass.

The company is also expanding its display range with the BRAVIA 3 II TV, which scales up to 100 inches. It features the same XR Processor found in Sony’s flagship models and supports 4K at 120Hz, making it a strong contender for both home cinema and gaming.

Accessibility has also been prioritised with a newly designed Inclusive Remote Control. The remote features a tactile layout for easier navigation and a Remote Finder function to help users locate it quickly.

Pricing and availability

Sony Australia has confirmed that the new audio and TV ranges will be available locally mid-year. Prices are yet to be announced, but they will be sold through Sony's website and major Australian electronics retailers.
