If you're serious about sticking to your New Year's resolutions about improving your health, then tracking your progress is an essential part of the process.
When I reviewed the original Withings Body Scan smart scale back in 2024, I was impressed by the sheer amount of data you could get from simply weighing yourself every day.
Withings is taking it up a notch with the Body Scan 2.
The French health tech company has just announced its most advanced smart scale yet at CES, and it's genuinely impressive what they've managed to pack into a bathroom scale. The Body Scan 2 can measure 60 health indicators in just 90 seconds.
The standout new feature is the hypertension risk indication. Using a clinically validated AI model, the Body Scan 2 can give you an early heads-up about potential high blood pressure risk without needing a cuff.
Given that hypertension is often called the "silent killer" because it develops without obvious symptoms, having this kind of early warning system at home could be genuinely life-changing for some people.
The scale also uses Impedance Cardiography (ICG) combined with a 6-lead ECG to analyse your heart's pumping efficiency and electrical activity. It'll tell you your "heart age" and can detect atrial fibrillation, features you would normally need clinical equipment for.
The Body Scan 2 uses ultra-high-frequency Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) tech, which analyses cellular health, metabolic efficiency, and glycaemic regulation. That means it's looking at how well your cells are functioning and whether there are early signs of blood sugar dysregulation, which are the kind of subtle shifts that happen long before you'd notice any symptoms.
Eric Carreel, Withings' founder and president, makes a compelling point about why the scale is such a powerful health tool:
"It's the only moment where we naturally engage our whole body—hands, feet, posture—allowing us to capture more biomarkers in 90 seconds than any wearable can collect in weeks."

The new Body Scan 2 measures arterial health through Pulse Wave Velocity, giving you insights into arterial stiffness and vascular age, and all of this data feeds into a personalised Health Trajectory Score, which helps you visualise how your daily choices are affecting your long-term health.
The scale draws from billions of measurements across the Withings ecosystem to establish your unique baselines and detect changes over time.
From a design perspective, the Body Scan 2 looks similar to the first generation. There's a single tempered-glass platform with 8 ITO electrodes, and a retractable handle with 4 stainless steel electrodes. But the high-resolution LCD colour display that shows results in real-time now sits in the handle, which will definitely make it easier to read.
The rechargeable battery reportedly lasts up to 15 months, and it syncs automatically via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Privacy-conscious users will appreciate that the device is GDPR and HIPAA compliant, with ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification.
The Withings Body Scan 2 will arrive in Australia in Q2 2026 with an RRP of $899 (inc. GST). It'll be available through Amazon Australia and select local retailers.
That's not cheap, and this won't be for everyone. But when you consider you're getting clinical-grade measurements for cardiovascular health, metabolic function, and cellular vitality, all tracked longitudinally in your own home, it starts to look like a reasonable value for anyone serious about preventive health monitoring.
