I love Bluetooth headphones. I love the convenience of a cordless connection. But I also love premium audio. So sometimes, a little bit of inconvenience is better.
The Sennheiser HD 505 is all about stepping up into a more audiophile experience. Blending analytical tuning, precise detail and a comfortable design, these new headphones promise to deliver crisp, clear sound at a price on par with some of the more premium Bluetooth headphones on the market.
Central to the HD 505 is a custom 120-ohm transducer in an open earcup. That allows for the headphones to deliver a frequency response range of 12 Hz to 38,500 Hz, with less than 0.2% harmonic distortion.
Unless you live and breathe audio specs, those numbers might not mean much to you, but what it means is that the headphones are designed to reproduce a full range of sounds accurately and clearly, from the deepest bass notes to the highest treble.
The transducers are angled to replicate the triangular position of a set of nearfield loudspeakers, which gives the impression you are sitting front row at a concert or movie theatre.
The HD 505 have a synthetic leather headband with a metal mesh earcup, which helps create a lightweight, and comfortable fit. Weighing just 237 grams, these headphones are designed for extended listening sessions.
The headphones comes with a detachable 1.8 metre cable with a 3.5mm plug and a 6.3mm adapter, so you can easily plug it into anything from a PC to an AV receiver or amplifier.
You can also swap the cable and earpads without tools, allowing you to add an in-line microphone or a different connection type through accessories.
“The HD 505 is for anyone ready to experience the audio awakening a great set of Sennheiser headphones is known for.
“There is something truly special in here that puts serious listening within arm’s reach of the emerging audiophile or gamer.”
