It's been less than a month since Epson launched its latest range of consumer EcoTank printers. Now it's bringing the improved value for money and cartridge-free printing improvements to the Small Office and Home Office (or SOHO, for short!) market.

The two new models, the ET-2920 and the ET-4900, follow the same formula that's made EcoTank a popular choice for home users: ditch the expensive cartridge cycle in favour of refillable ink tanks that come pre-loaded with enough ink to print thousands of pages straight out of the box.

Both printers ship with ink to print up to 3,600 black and white pages or 6,500 colour pages, and Epson claims users can save up to 90% on printing costs compared to traditional cartridge models.

That's perfect if you're printing regularly for work, removing the all-too-familiar scramble to order replacement cartridges at the worst possible time.

The ET-2920 is the more entry-level of the two, offering print, scan, and copy functions with wireless connectivity. It'll suit home office workers, students, and freelancers who need reliable everyday printing without a lot of fuss.

Both models print at 11 pages per minute in black and white, and 6 pages per minute in colour.

The ET-4900 steps things up with the addition of fax support, an automatic document feeder (ADF) for handling multi-page documents, and Ethernet connectivity alongside Wi-Fi.

If your home office doubles as a small business hub, the ET-4900 is the more capable option.

Phil Daidone, Senior Product Manager at Epson Australia, said customers were increasingly fed up with the ongoing costs of both entry-level laser printers and traditional cartridge models.

"With EcoTank, we've fundamentally changed that experience delivering ultra-low running costs, fewer interruptions and a simpler, more reliable way to print," he said.
