Good news for wearables fans: Amazfit has officially launched in Australia, with a range of products designed to help you push your fitness and health forward without spending a fortune.
The global smart wearable brand, owned by health tech company Zepp Health, has opened a dedicated Australian online store as part of a push to make Australia one of its key growth markets.
Since launching in 2015, Amazfit has grown into one of the world's biggest wearable brands, now sold in more than 90 countries with over 42 million daily active users and 200 million devices sold.
Amazfit builds all of its tech in-house, from the BioTracker biometric sensors to the AI coaching tools and the Zepp app and operating system that ties it all together.
In practice, that means its watches are trying to do more than count your steps. They're aiming to interpret your training, sleep, stress and recovery, and turn that into guidance you can use.
Amazfit is also the official global partner of HYROX, the fitness racing format that's exploded in popularity in Australia over the past couple of years, and several Amazfit devices come with dedicated HYROX training and race modes built in.
"Australia is one of the most active and health conscious markets in the world, and active consumers now increasingly want to understand how sleep, stress, exercise, cardiovascular indicators and recovery interact for long term wellbeing," said Robbie Wu, APAC General Manager at Amazfit. "The next generation of wearable technology will not be defined by how much data a device collects, but rather how intelligently it interprets that information and helps people act on it."
Amazfit Active 3 Premium
The Active 3 Premium is aimed at new and developing runners who want more structure in their training.
It comes with Zepp Coach adaptive running plans, offline maps with turn by turn navigation, and six satellite positioning for accurate route tracking. There's 4GB of onboard storage for maps and music, so you can leave your phone at home on a run.
On the health side, it tracks heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep quality and recovery through Amazfit's BioTracker sensor.
The 45mm stainless steel case has a 1.32 inch AMOLED display protected by sapphire glass, hitting up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness so it stays readable in harsh Australian sun. Battery life is rated at up to 12 days.
It also supports Bluetooth calling and Zepp Flow voice interaction.

Amazfit Helio Strap
The Helio Strap takes a different approach by not offering a screen at all. It's designed to be worn on your wrist day to day or moved to your upper arm during exercise, where it records heart rate every second.
That upper arm position is meant to cut down on the movement interference that can throw off wrist based heart rate readings during high intensity workouts, which is handy if you're the type to fling your arms around during a HYROX run.
It covers 27 sports modes, including HYROX specific tracking, and can broadcast live heart rate data to compatible watches, cycling computers, gym equipment and fitness apps.
It also tracks HRV, sleep, blood oxygen, stress and energy levels, and can log a workout without your phone nearby, syncing everything to the Zepp app later.
Battery life runs up to 10 days, and there's no subscription needed for the core features.
Used together, the two devices are designed to fill in each other's gaps. The Helio Strap can keep collecting data while the Active 3 Premium is charging or being worn for something else, giving the Zepp app a more complete picture of your day.
The app also plays nicely with third party platforms like Strava, TrainingPeaks, adidas Running and komoot, and doesn't require a subscription for the core experience.
