Every so often you hit a week that flies by, and you can barely realise what you missed. And this week was one of those for me.
It started simply enough – a refresh of the homepage to try to showcase more of the stuff I'm creating here at BTTR. Before I knew it, it was Friday and I was checking out Ecovacs' new robot lawnmowers and trying to find something to write about for the newsletter.
One of the bigger news stories I didn't get to cover was the launch of the new Siri in iOS 27 hitting the public beta. Naturally I downloaded it to play around with. I feel like it has a lot of potential, but the hard part is in training yourself to experiment.
From my early tests, it's way better than previous Siri, but still has a way to go. I asked it to add an event from Mail to my calendar that was at The Calyx in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. It added it, time correct and everything, but set the address as the Gardens themselves.
As anyone who has visited the Gardens knows, it's a big place, so that was a bit of a mistake.
If you're also on the Public Beta, let me know what's working for you. And if you have any feedback about the new homepage, let me know!
Until next week

This week's news
- Ecovacs just built a robot army for your backyard » Any Australian who's left their lawns a few weeks too long because they can't be bothered getting the mower out is going to love this announcment.
- Skullcandy's new Crusher headphones want you to feel Bose, not just hear it » Skullcandy's partnership with Bose delivers another pair of headphones.
- Amazfit's Australian debut is all about training smarter, not harder » Amazfit has been one of those brands I've wondered about for years, and now they're finally here in Australia.
- Norton's scam Genie just moved in to Claude, and it's watching your inbox » Look, it makes a lot of sense for Norton to enable this.
- Shokz clips into 2026 with OpenDots 2 and the budget-friendly OpenDots Air » I've got a lot of thoughts about these new earbuds, given how much I loved the first pair. Review should be interesting.
- Samsung teases the crease fix we've all been waiting for » Given how well OPPO did it with the Find N6, it will be interesting to see how well Samsung delivers here.
- Mova's new robot vacuum refuses to mop your floors with dirty water » Looks like a solid flagship vacuum for Aussie homes.
- Turns out most Aussie speeding fines come down to a wandering mind » Hardly a surprise, really. But that's why it's important to stay focused while driving.
- BISSELL shrinks its stain fighting SpotClean down to apartment size » This is a good decision – these spot cleaners need to be stored away, so the more compact the better.
- Sony's RX10 V packs Alpha smarts into one very long lens » If you like your cameras digital without an interchangeable lens, this could be for you.
New reviews
- Sennheiser Momentum 5 review: Built to outlast its price tag » These are damned fine headphones. The more I use them, the more I love them.
- Rokid AI Smart Glasses review: Incredible tech with creepy connotations » This review was a challenge to write, because the hardware is fantastic and the software is good too. But the privacy implications are just way too concerning to skim over.
