Mova's new robot vacuum refuses to mop your floors with dirty water

Mova's new flagship robot vacuum pairs a continuously washed roller mop with 36,000 Pa of suction, and it's landed in Australia today for $2,999.

If I were to buy a robot vacuum cleaner today, there are two non-negotiable things I would look for.

The first is an anti-tangle brush, which doesn't break down when the odd strand of long hair gets caught. And the second is a roller-style mop, because they do a much better job than oscillating pads.

The new Mova Z70 Ultra Roller meets both of those requirements, and packs in a ridiculously high 36,000 Pa of suction as well.

Launching in Australia today, the Z70 Ultra Roller is Mova's attempt at solving the two biggest complaints people have about robot mops: dirty water dragging grime across your floors, and mops that lose contact with the ground once they get soaked and matted.

Its HydroForce 2.0 system runs a continuous spray, mop, scrape and recover cycle, feeding fresh water to the roller while sucking dirty water straight back out, so the same puddle of grime never gets a second pass around your home.

The roller pushes down with 18N of pressure to shift dried stains and footprints, and spins at up to 800 RPM to stop the fibres matting mid clean.

Combined with that suction figure, it's chasing consistent performance from the first room to the last, rather than the steady decline you get from robots dragging an increasingly dirty mop around.

Navigation gets an upgrade too, with RGB AI smartsight and dual 3D structured light sensors for spotting obstacles, plus an LED fill light for low-light rooms.

A retracting LiDAR module lets it squeeze under furniture with as little as 10cm of clearance, and it can climb obstacles up to 9cm high, enough for most Australian thresholds and sliding door tracks.

Carpet is where a lot of roller mops fall down, but AutoShield tech lifts the roller mop by 13mm and the side brush by 10mm the moment carpet is detected, while a protective cover stops moisture transferring across.

On the maintenance side, the self cleaning base station washes the roller at up to 100°C and dries it with warm air, and a 4L dust bag with UV sterilisation is good for up to 125 days between empties.

"Australian households are looking for smarter cleaning solutions that do more than automate a task," said Nancy Zhang, Country Manager at Mova ANZ. "The Z70 Ultra Roller brings those priorities together in a premium roller mopping robot vacuum, combining continuous fresh water mopping, 36,000 Pa suction, intelligent carpet protection and a design made for modern homes."

It's a solid follow up to Mova's local launch of the Diver A10 robotic pool cleaner last month, and shows the brand is building out a full smart home cleaning lineup here rather than betting on a single hero product.

The robot vacuum category in Australia is only getting more crowded too, with rivals like Ecovacs pushing similarly aggressive feature sets at competitive prices.
