It was only a couple of weeks ago that Shark launched its PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty vacuum. But if you like your stick vacuums light in the hand, the company has just unveiled the PowerLite stick vacuum, complete with auto-empty system.

The Shark PowerLite (BU3621ANZ) comes in at 2.8kg, which puts it on the lighter end of the self-emptying stick vacuum category.

Shark is pairing that manageable weight with a 1.3L auto-empty dock that stores up to 30 days of dust and debris before you need to deal with the bin.

On the suction side, Shark is using what it calls Hypervelocity cyclonic suction, and the PowerFins multi-surface brushroll is designed to keep consistent contact across both carpet and hard floors without you needing to switch modes.

The brushroll auto-adjusts its speed depending on the surface, ensuring you get the best performance no matter where you're vacuuming.

Runtime is rated at up to 40 minutes in ECO mode using a non-motorised attachment, which should cover most homes in a single pass.

Shark has included a HEPA sealed system, and claims the dock produces 20x less dust exposure compared to manually emptying a vacuum, since the debris gets sealed away inside the base rather than puffing back into the air.

There are a few thoughtful extras, including LED headlights on the nozzle to reveal dust in low-light areas, a removable handvac for above-floor cleaning, and a Quiet Mode that lets the dock charge silently and defer the emptying cycle until you're ready.

For anyone looking at Shark's wider range, the PowerLite sits below the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty in terms of spec but above basic cordless options, making it a solid middle-ground pick for buyers who want self-emptying convenience without a heavy machine.
