The annual smartphone calendar is built around two main events. First, the iPhone launch in September and second, the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in February.

Samsung has confirmed that the 2023 Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for 1 February in the US. This equates to 5:00am on 2 Feb for us on the Eastern seaboard of Australia (AEDT, of course).

While the planned announcements havenโ€™t been 100% confirmed just yet, Samsung has dropped a bunch of hints on its YouTube channel.

And itโ€™s a pretty safe bet that weโ€™ll be seeing the Galaxy S23 family of phones being announced.

In any case, whatever the company is announcing is going to have a triple camera system:

My nights are already pretty epic, but I look forward to your announcement nevertheless.

These cameras are going to be the foundation of the marketing for the device (or devices), if these teaser trailers are anything to go by:

This new camera system is going to be pretty good at night photography. Or at least we can expect that message from Samsung at the Unpacked event.

Given the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is already top of our list for best Android phone and best mobile phone, I expect weโ€™ll see similar performance from the S23 family this year.

Donโ€™t forget to register

If youโ€™ve been hanging out for the S23โ€™s arrival for your next smartphone, head to the Samsung website to register your interest.

Samsung is offering those who register a bonus Samsung Care+ voucher valued up to $249. The T&Cs for the offer state that youโ€™ll need to pre-order the phone through Samsung to get the voucher though.
