Why trust us? | How we test
Good news for Kobo eReader users looking to keep deeper tabs on their reading habits – the integration with open source Goodreads competitor StoryGraph is now live.
Kobo users can connect their Kobo and StoryGraph accounts to collect deeper insights into their reading habits, share reviews and enjoy a deeper connection to the social reading community without manual effort.
The sync works across every Kobo eReader and app, including Kobo Clara Colour and the rest of the current lineup, and it covers both eBooks and audiobooks, including anything read through Kobo Plus.
Once your accounts are linked, every reading session feeds straight into your StoryGraph profile in real time, so your reading streaks and virtual shelves stay accurate without you having to manually log a single page.
Kobo handles the reading, StoryGraph handles the data, turning every book you finish into mood based recommendations, detailed reading insights and access to StoryGraph's book clubs and community challenges.
On the privacy side, Kobo says it only shares the progress data needed to power your StoryGraph stats, and you can disconnect the two accounts whenever you like.
How to connect your accounts
Setting the two platforms up together takes a couple of minutes.
- If you don't already have one, create a free StoryGraph account at thestorygraph.com, or download the StoryGraph app for iOS or Android.
- Head to your Kobo account settings and find the integrations page.
- Link your StoryGraph account from there, and your Kobo reading sessions will start syncing automatically from that point on.
No further setup is needed once the accounts are linked. Reading progress updates on its own each time you pick up your Kobo eReader or open the app.
One way access
The one thing to note with the new integration is that there's no way currently to access your StoryGraph account, or the trends and insights from the account, on your Kobo reader.
I wouldn't be surprised if that changes in a future update, but for now you still need to access StoryGraph directly to see your insights.
Pricing and availability
The StoryGraph integration is free and live now for all Kobo eReader and app users, with no separate subscription or in-app purchase required to turn it on.
