Why trust us? | How we test
Sony's WH-1000 XM6 are still my favourite pair of headphones, despite strong competition from Sennheiser and Sony itself. If the existing lineup of colours don't float your boat, then Sony's launch of an Olive Gray colourway may be the variant you've been waiting for.
The new earthy tone slots in alongside the Sand Pink and Sandstone finishes Sony introduced alongside the 1000X THE COLLEXION.
Sony says the shift reflects growing demand for understated, timeless design over anything flashy or trend driven.
Olive Gray is built to blend into whatever you're wearing rather than compete with it, while still carrying that quiet sense of premium quality Sony's WH-1000X series has become known for.
Nothing about the headphones themselves has changed here. It's the same WH-1000XM6 that took out our pick for the best noise cancelling headphones, with Sony's newest processing chip handling active noise cancellation, adaptive sound control that adjusts to your environment, and the kind of all day comfort that makes them easy to forget you're wearing.
Sound quality remains a step above most rivals, with a warm, detailed signature that holds up whether you're listening to podcasts on the train or losing yourself in a proper album.
Pricing and availability
The Sony WH-1000XM6 in Olive Gray is available now from Sony Australia, with an RRP of $649.95.
It joins the existing Black, Platinum Silver, Sand Pink and Sandstone options in the range, all priced the same.
Australians can also expect the new colourway to roll out to major retailers over the coming weeks.
