I'm currently reviewing the Kobo Clara Colour (better late than never!) and one of the few things that has disappointed me is that the Libby/Sora integration. This feature lets you borrow ebooks from your local library, and while the integration looks like it works really well, the infrastructure just doesn't really exist here in Australia.
But this new announcement of a partnership with StoryGraph shouldn't have the same problem.
StoryGraph is a community-driven reading tracker used by more than five million readers worldwide. Coming in June 2026, Kobo eReaders will be able to sync directly with StoryGraph, automatically. That means there will be no manual logging of your books required.
If you haven't come across StoryGraph before, think of it as the book lover's alternative to Goodreads, but with better data and no Amazon baggage.
You can track reading goals, get personalised recommendations based on your mood and reading pace, join book clubs and community challenges, and dig into detailed stats about your habits. It's ad-free, available on web, iOS, and Android, and won an Apple App Store Award in 2025.
The integration does the heavy lifting for you. Open a book on your Kobo and it syncs to your "Currently Reading" shelf on StoryGraph. Your progress percentage updates as you read.
Finish the book and StoryGraph marks it as "Read" automatically. It works for both ebooks and audiobooks, and if you want to override anything manually, you can do that directly in StoryGraph.
Nadia Odunayo, founder and CEO of StoryGraph, said the partnership is about removing friction: "Our mission is to make reading lives better, and removing the friction from tracking is one of the most direct ways we can do that. We're proud to be partnering with Kobo as the first eReader to integrate natively with StoryGraph, and what's launching in June is just the start of what we hope to build together."
If you're already a Kobo user and a StoryGraph member, this will be a useful upgrade. And if you've been sitting on the fence about which eReader to buy, features like this are exactly the kind of thing that tips the scales away from the Kindle. It's worth keeping an eye on if you've been considering one of Kobo's colour eReaders too.
Pricing and availability
The StoryGraph integration is free and will be available to all Kobo users with account-based content from June 2026. There's no separate app to install on your device. Once it's live, you'll be able to link your accounts via StoryGraph.
