With its strong release schedule of new drones, cameras and gimbals, DJI isn't neglecting your power needs. Overnight it announced its updated Power 1000 Mini, a 1kWh power station that's smaller and lighter than the previous generation.
The new Power 1000 Mini measures 314 x 212 x 216 mm and weighs 11.5 kg, which DJI says is roughly half the size of the standard Power 1000. DJI's portable power range now spans from the Power 500 up to the full-size Power 1000 and the Power Expansion 2000.
Despite the smaller body, it's optimised for low-power efficiency and delivers a longer run time than the original.
It puts out up to 1000W and can handle select appliances rated up to 1200W, with two AC outlets, two USB-A ports and an SDC port to work with.
The big improvement over the standard Power 1000 is what's built in. Rather than reaching for a bag of accessories at the campsite, the Power 1000 Mini includes a retractable 100W USB-C cable, a 400W car charger and a 400W MPPT solar module, all integrated into the unit.
Plugged into mains, it hits 80% in 58 minutes and reaches full capacity in 75 minutes. On the road, the built-in car charger can deliver a full recharge in 160 minutes while you drive, though you'll need the DJI Power Car Battery Charging Cable separately.
Solar panels connect directly via the built-in MPPT module using the DJI Power MC4 Solar Power Charging Cable, also sold separately.
If you're already shooting with a DJI drone like the Avata 360, the SDC port is designed to work with the DJI Power Fast Charge Cable for Drones (sold separately) to quickly top up your drone's battery.
It can apparently top a DJI Air 3 Series battery from 10% to 95% in around 30 minutes.
The unit also functions as a UPS when connected to grid power, switching to battery in 0.01 seconds if there's a blackout.
On the safety and longevity front, DJI uses LFP cells that have passed nail-penetration testing, and rates the battery at 4,000 charge cycles before it drops below 80% capacity. At one charge per day, that's roughly 10 years of use.
It operates at altitudes up to 5,000m, and the inverter uses a potting process to protect against rain, condensation and salt spray.
Ten built-in temperature sensors feed into the Intelligent Battery Management System, with real-time monitoring available through the DJI Home app.
Pricing and availability
The DJI Power 1000 Mini is available now in Australia through store.dji.com/au and authorised retail partners, with an RRP of $799. DJI is offering limited-time promotional pricing at launch, so it's worth checking the DJI Store for the current price.
