Ninja has the best names for its products. it's latest kitchen appliance is the HyperHeat, a 1200W pressure cooker that can slow cook, sous vide and steam as well.

The full name is the Ninja HyperHeat 9-in-1 Multicooker, and the nine functions are: pressure cook, sous vide, slow cook, rice, pasta, sear/sauté, yoghurt, steam and keep warm. That's not as comprehensive as the Combi 14-in1 multicooker, but as a pressure cooker, it's targeting a slightly different market.

The "HyperHeat" name refers to the 1200W heating element, which builds pressure faster than a traditional cooker to deliver meals up to twice as fast as slow cooking.

White rice is done in around eight minutes; quinoa in five, though that's cooking time, and not the time it takes to build and release pressure, as I discovered reviewing the Instant Pot Pro Plus a couple of years ago.

At the centre is Ninja's 6L SimpliServe Pot, a ceramic non-stick, 100% PFAS-free vessel large enough to fit a 2.3kg roast or a whole 1.8kg chicken, with Ninja saying it comfortably feeds eight to ten people.

The 24cm cooking surface is wide enough to sear and sauté directly in the pot before switching to another mode, which cuts down on washing up, since you're not transferring food between pans.

When you're done cooking, the pot is designed to go straight from the base to the table, which is a nice touch if you're hosting.
