If you aren't the pre-ordering expensive technology type (I get you), then it might be worth sharing that Samsung's new foldables are officially on sale from today.
The 2026 foldable lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 are all available to order in Australia.
Samsung says this has been its most successful foldable pre-order run yet, with double-digit growth year on year. A chunk of that came from people switching to Samsung for the first time, with the Fold8 leading the charge, and Samsung says it's also picked up more younger buyers drawn to the pocketability of the foldable format.
The Fold8 is built around what Samsung calls a "passport-inspired" form factor, meant to make it easier to flick between quick phone tasks and the kind of immersive reading, gaming or video you'd normally reach for a tablet to do. It's also the lightest Fold Samsung has made, and comes with a dual 50MP camera system.
The Fold8 Ultra sits above it as the flagship of the range, with an 8-inch inner display, upgraded cameras, all-day battery and the kind of performance Samsung is pitching at people who want to actually get work done on a foldable, not just show one off.
Then there's the Flip8, which Samsung says is its slimmest and lightest flip phone ever at 180g. It gets a reworked AI-powered FlexWindow, better cameras and the brand's Flex Mode setup for propping the phone up hands-free.
All three phones get a new "Flex Titanium" build, which Samsung says makes the hinge and frame slimmer and stronger, plus AI camera tools like My FanCam for editing and sharing content on the fly.
Eric Chou, Vice President of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Australia, said the range was designed to go beyond just hardware.
"We are committed to delivering Australians a mobile experience that goes beyond the hardware – spanning security, service, software and Galaxy AI... Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 each offer distinct experiences, designed for different Australian lifestyles."
On the wrist, the Watch Ultra2 is aimed at people who actually push their gear outdoors, with specialised sports tracking, tougher build quality, a bigger battery and a display that hits up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, Samsung's brightest watch screen yet.
The Watch9 is the more everyday option, a lighter, more comfortable design with AI-powered health insights through Samsung Health and solid all-day battery life.

All devices are available now from Samsung.com/au, and via Telstra, Optus and TPG/Vodafone, with launch offers including bonus trade-in credit, eco-vouchers and payment plan discounts running through various dates until early September.
Samsung's New Galaxy Club program also lets buyers get up to 50% of an eligible device's RRP back when they upgrade to a next-gen Galaxy phone 9 to 13 months after signing up.
