If you were already confused by the sheer number of drone models from DJI – from the Neo to the Flip; the Avata to the Mini Pro and the Mavic to the Air – get ready for more. The company has just announced the new Lito 1 and Lito X1 consumer drone models.

The Lito series is DJI's newest entry-level lineup, aimed squarely at first-time flyers who want capable aerial photography without a steep learning curve. Both models pack 48MP cameras and omnidirectional obstacle sensing rated to 5 lux, meaning they can detect cliffs, walls, and other hazards in dim lighting conditions.

The base Lito 1 uses a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, capable of shooting 8K stills and 4K video.

The Lito X1 steps things up with a larger 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, an f/1.7 aperture, HDR video with 14 stops of dynamic range, and 10-bit D-Log M for colour grading flexibility in post.

It also adds forward-facing LiDAR for more precise obstacle detection in complex environments, plus 42GB of onboard storage so you're not entirely dependent on a memory card.

Both drones support ActiveTrack for subject tracking at speeds up to 12 m/s, alongside QuickShots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse, and Panorama for automated cinematic shots without manual camera control.

Flight time is rated at 36 minutes on a standard battery, with wind resistance up to 10.7 m/s.

Files transfer to your phone or computer at up to 50 MB/s over Wi-Fi 6 using QuickTransfer, and the Lito X1's onboard storage means you can offload clips without a card reader.

DJI Care Refresh protection is available for the Lito 1, covering accidental damage including flyaways, collisions, and water damage. A one-year plan covers up to two replacements; a two-year plan covers up to four.
