Insta360 may be best known for its 360 degree cameras, but it also plays in the smartphone gimbal space. It has just updated its Flow 2 and Flow 2 Pro gimbal to deliver a much better experience for both Android and iOS users.
The biggest change is native multi-lens support on Android. Previously, using the Insta360 app with a gimbal locked Android users to a single camera lens.
Now, supported flagship devices including the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Google Pixel phones, Vivo, and OPPO handsets can switch between ultra-wide, main, and telephoto lenses directly within the app, with full-resolution output that matches the phone's native camera quality.
The update also brings 360 Panorama 2.0, cutting the time needed to generate a stitched spherical panorama by 50 percent, down to just 20 seconds.
Users can share these as interactive previews to TikTok and Instagram, letting viewers pan and tilt through the shot, or reframe them as flat photos using creative templates like Tiny Planet.
iPhone users get two notable additions. Dual View Mode records simultaneously using the front and rear cameras, or two rear cameras at different focal lengths, producing three independent clips in a single take.
It's a similar idea to the dual-camera recording Apple introduced on recent iPhones, but without needing to upgrade your handset.
Apple Watch Control is the other new iPhone feature. From the wrist, users can start and stop recording, switch modes, set timers, and use the Digital Crown for smooth zoom adjustments, without needing to touch the phone or gimbal.
Rounding out the update are improvements to AI Tracker, which now works across all Android devices and apps; Smartphone Remote Control, which lets a second phone operate the gimbal remotely; Multi-Person Tracking for group shots; and Active Zoom Tracking, which can follow a moving subject at up to 15x zoom.
Insta360 says Flow 2 Pro is the first and only gimbal capable of tracking subjects at that reach.
Insta360 also makes the Snap selfie screen accessory for creators who want a front-facing monitor while shooting, and it pairs well with these new multi-lens and Dual View shooting modes.
Pricing and availability
The update is free and available now through the Insta360 app on both iOS and Android, as well as via insta360.com.
Compatibility varies by phone model, so Insta360 recommends checking its website for the full supported device list.
The Flow 2 and Flow 2 Pro gimbals themselves are available from insta360.com and selected Australian tech retailers.
