Why trust us? | How we test
I had to check the date when I first saw this press release come through. It's not 1 April, is it?
No, this is a legitimate product out of New Zealand that promises a technological solve to one of life's more frustrating ailments: hayfever.
Goodair Nosebuds are exactly what they sound like: a small, rechargeable device that sits inside your nostrils. Unlike antihistamines, nasal sprays, or strip-style solutions, Nosebuds don't block a reaction or open your airways with chemicals. They work with what's already in your nose.
The device emits a gentle vibroacoustic frequency that stimulates your nasal cilia, the tiny hair-like structures lining your nasal passages. Those cilia are your body's natural mucus-clearing system, and the idea is that Nosebuds help them do their job more effectively. Two 10-minute sessions a day is the recommended routine, though one 20-minute session works too.
The technology draws on more than 25 years of nasal physiology research, and clinical testing returned some striking numbers: 95% of subjects experienced significant improvement in congestion, drainage, pressure, and breathing flow. That's impressive results, even if the device itself looks a little confronting.
"The nose is one of the body's most sophisticated systems, and most solutions on the market work around it rather than with it," said Dr. David White, Chief Science Officer and founder of Goodair. "We have spent more than 25 years studying nasal physiology specifically to develop a solution that supports what the nose is already designed to do."
The device sold out after its New Zealand launch and is now available in Australia for anyone aged 12 and up.
The Nosebuds are designed to help you manage seasonal allergies, chronic rhinitis, or just trying to breathe more comfortably during exercise or sleep (a Withings Sleep Analyser will tell you just how much your breathing affects your rest).
Six Nosetip sizes are included to help you find the right fit.
