When I first saw Dyson's new Supersonic Travel hair dryer, I immediately thought of this classic scene from Spaceballs:

Fortunately, technology has come a long way since that movie came out, so you don't need a space outlaw and a mog to carry it around in designer luggage.

The Dyson Supersonic Travel is the company's answer to a real travel problem: dedicated travel dryers are typically underpowered, but packing a full-sized dryer in your luggage is a chore.

This one is 32% smaller and 25% lighter than the original Supersonic, small enough to slip into a handbag or cabin bag, while keeping the core performance technology intact.

The dryer automatically adjusts to your country's power supply, so there's no need for a separate voltage converter when you land in the US, Japan, or the UK.

Dyson has kept the intelligent heat control that defined the original Supersonic. The motor measures airflow temperature 100 times per second to avoid the kind of excessive heat that can degrade keratin and weaken hair over time. It's the same tech, just in a much smaller package.

One smart design decision is attachment compatibility. The Supersonic Travel works with attachments from the Dyson Supersonic Nural, so you can bring your existing diffuser or smoothing nozzle without buying into a new accessory ecosystem.

As part of the announcement, James Dyson said: "We didn't just shrink a dryer, we re-engineered it for travel. The Supersonic Travel delivers high-performance styling while protecting hair from extreme heat. It is built for performance, portability, and hair health."

Dyson is also pairing the Supersonic Travel with its Omega leave-in conditioning spray mini, a travel-sized treatment powered by a blend of seven omega-rich oils designed to reduce frizz and protect against humidity.

The two are being marketed as a complete travel hair care system, though the spray is sold separately.
